EVENT NEWS REVIEW:
There were several Youth@Pride events taking place all over the capital in the run up to Pride 2007 and it all kicked off on Friday 22nd June with the biggest pre-pride gathering of queer youth London has ever seen...
Over 100 LGBT young people attended the event in Soho Square on Friday evening (22nd June). 118 to be exact (ish). We understand this is the biggest pre-pride public gathering of queer youth to date (!) - does that make us record breakers...Hmmmm? (Note to self: Next year we must invite the Guinness Book of Records to 'officially' record the event....)
Pink Paper and Pink News covered the event, and you see the report by Pink News here: http://www.pinknews.co.uk/news/articles/2005-4739.html
Our special thanks go out to The Millivres Prowler Group (MPG) for providing support and distributing goody bags; and to The Pink Paper and Pink News for covering the event. This event also received £200 towards costs from PRIDE London, as part of the London-wide Youth@Pride celebrations.

'Alcohol use and PACE Youthwork Service Users' (May 2007)
"OutZone works exclusively with young men aged 25 and under who make use of our services on a voluntary basis. OutZone encourages the responsible use of alcohol with those who are legally entitled to buy and consume it on licensed premises in the UK"
Because of the nature of our work, many of our service-wide social events take place in licensed premises where bar staff are legally entitled to serve alcohol to those who are aged 18 and over (and able to prove it).
Young men who attend OutZone social events that take place in licensed premises are permitted to purchase and consume alcohol while participating in PACE Youthwork Service facilitated events. Service users who, in the opinion of youthwork staff, misuse alcohol during service wide events - regardless of their age - may be prevented from attending future events.
PACE Youthwork Service staff will have no hesitation in informing licensees of any under-age drinking that they are aware of during service-wide social events that take place on licensed premises.
Underage drinking during service wide social events that occurs in unlicensed premises will not be permitted and may jeopardise future events and your participation in them.
Please remember - as a service user - you and youthwork staff have a civic duty to act within the law. The youth group is a safe, friendly and confidential space where you can meet new people of your own age, find out more about how to stay safe and healthy in a big city like London and access experienced youth workers (in confidence) around any issue. Weekly youth group members are usually aged 16/17 to 24/25. If you’d like to come along you need to call or email us first. You can find out more by clicking here.
If you’re not ready to come along to the group, but would still like to have a chat with a member of the youthwork team, that’s ok too - you can find out more here.

Certainly not the police who raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular "drag" bar in Greenwich Village. After a long history of police raids, extortion, and brutality, a gaggle of drag queens at the Stonewall decide they have had enough and begin to riot when the police try to load them into a paddy wagon.

Meanwhile, the also eight years Brian Lackey awakes from a brief amnesia of four hours with a bleeding nose, but his negligent father does not pay attention to the event. Brian grows-up believing he had been abducted by aliens. The gay Neil grows-up as a hustler. When Brian is eighteen years old, he looks for and meets Neil, who discloses dark innermost secrets of their past….

Workshop - Binge Drinking! (Workshop/Discussion)
No, not a competition to see how much alcohol we can drink without falling over, but a chance to look at how drinking too much alcohol can affect our mood, ability and safety.
Bearing in mind that 1/2pt of non premium lager, a small glass of wine or a single sprit (10ml) is roughly one unit of alcohol, (Or to put it another way, 1 can of 'Stella' is 2.2 units), we'll work out our weekly 'intake' and compare our findings to the governments 'safe weekly limits'.
We'll also look at what can go wrong if we drink too much and think about ways to make sure we keep ourselves safe... Take part in our quiz to find out just how much you really know...
